A Gaian Philosophy
I look to place at the heart of each of my designs the philosophy of Gaia. Whether understanding it as a theory, an ideology or a tenet, Gaia sees the Earth as a single, interconnected, self-regulating system. It proposes that the environment, and all living organisms, work in harmony to maintain conditions optimal for life.
I see every garden as a small ecosystem in itself, albeit one that is open and collaborating with the wider whole. Within my designs, each plant is carefully selected not just for its setting and beauty, but for its role in supporting the wider garden and local wildlife. A Gaian garden promotes organic techniques, negating the need for artificial pesticides and herbicides.
In this way I look to create gardens that aren’t just beautiful, but are vital havens - small organic reflections of our wider interconnected world.
